Jheronimus Bosch Art Center

Jheronimus Bosch Art Center

The Jheronimus Bosch Art Center is a cultural centre dedicated to one of the most famous artists connected to 's-Hertogenbosch: Jheronimus Bosch. Bosch was born around 1450 and died in 's-Hertogenbosch in 1516. His imaginative paintings, strange creatures and mysterious scenes made him one of the best-known artists of the late Middle Ages. The art centre gives visitors an opportunity to learn more about his life, his work and the world in which he lived.

The Art Center is located in a beautiful former church dedicated to St. James. The building itself is part of the experience, combining historic architecture with exhibitions and cultural activities. Inside, visitors can explore a modern exhibition about Jheronimus Bosch and discover reproductions and information connected to his famous paintings. The centre aims to help visitors understand not only what Bosch painted, but also the ideas, symbols and stories behind his work.

The centre is more than just an art exhibition. It is a multifunctional cultural centre with concerts, performances, modern art exhibitions, educational activities, a library and a museum shop. This means there can be different things to experience depending on when you visit. The centre also organises special exhibitions and events throughout the year.

Visitors who want to learn more can also book a guided tour. These tours focus on the works of Jheronimus Bosch, his life and the hidden visual language that can be found in his art. The guided tour takes about one hour and is led by specialised museum guides. Guided tours of the former St. James church are also available.

The Art Center is located at Jeroen Boschplein 2, close to the historic city centre. It is within walking distance of 's-Hertogenbosch Central Station, making it easy to include in a day of sightseeing. The centre is also largely accessible to wheelchair users, although some areas, such as the choir and workshop, can only be reached by stairs.

Opening times can change during the year. From April through October, the centre is generally open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:30. During March, November and December, the general hours are shorter. Visitors do not normally need to make a reservation to visit the centre, but checking the official website before travelling is recommended because special events and school holidays can affect opening hours.
